Baby Gizmo Bumbleride Indie Twin 2009 Stroller Review
|
Customer Reviews |
WE HAD THIS STROLLER FOR A YEAR AND WE STILL LOVE IT!
|
| Review Date: April 22, 2009 |
| Reviewer: Olga, CA, USA |
EDIT:
Well, the 2010 sure has some GREAT improvements. I wish my 2009 had all that! But I still love it. I've tried and tested many strollers. I even bought a couple online and returned them because Bumbleride is just The best, The most luxurious drive your kids can get :)
Here is what my husband and I love the most about it:
(NOTE: We owned a single BOB stroller and a friend has double one, thats why I will compare it to BOB often)
- smooth ride, easy to push. Air filled tires make it really easy to push. It's all terrain stroller so we have no problem at all to push it on grass, bark etc.
- soft comfortable high quality fabric - stroller cover. Many other strollers feel like the seats are made from some plastic rough hot material. Not Bumbleride.
- The greatest basket ever! I walk to town often and buy groceries. I get like 5 plastic bags full of stuff and it all fits! and it's still very easy to push! The basket is also very easily accessible because of the way it's made - GENIUS! I saw BOB basket and it's really small and the sides are tall so it's hard to reach in.
- Adjustable handle. My 2 year old loves to push the stroller! I can adjust the handle to her size!
- Seat recline to almost flat. Also my kids like to sit up rights and see around. My baby hated the BOB stroller because the sides are wide and the seat is not up right so she could never see anything and tried to lean forward and look around always. Bumbleride is so open, they never complain!
- BUMBLERIDE DOUBLE FITS THROUGH THE STANDARD DOORS! Now this is rare :) For example BOB double stroller doesn't fit. I don't actually know any other side by side stroller that also fits.
- It looks very cool and unique. I get compliments ALL THE TIME! People ask what kind of stroller it is always!.
ORIGINAL REVIEW:
- SO easy to push around, turn; very smooth ride because of the air filled tires but they are not so huge like many other all-terrain (jogging) strollers have.
- Ok, it is wide but not as wide as BOB, for example. It's actually pretty narrow for a double stroller but it still have very roomy seats! We went to Safeway and Walgreens and haven't had any problems. It fit through every door.
- The seats seem so comfortable, very soft and padded. Everything is removable and washable.
- It has 2 front wheels which, I believe, makes it more stable. All the other all terrain double strollers have only 1 front wheel.
- Car seat adapter (and rain cover) included! Usually you have to spend extra money to buy accessories.
- My babies love it! I had BOB single stroller before. I don't like jogging but I bought it because I couldn't find any other good all terrain stroller. My baby never really liked it because she always had to lie back so much. Bumbleride is so open and she can sit up and she loves looking around!
- You can use it with the car seat! Universal car seat adapter included. My other baby who is only 2 weeks old sleeps in her Graco Snugride car seat when we walk around and the Bumbleride smooth ride makes her comfortable and happy :)
- HUGE basket makes life a lot easier especially when I walk to the grocery store and back home with lots of groceries! (or when I put my big diaper bag and other things in it).
- It looks COOL, expensive, durable, UNIQUE! So many people have asked me what kind of stroller it is. I love buying unique products ;)
It's not a jogging stroller but it is great for occasional jogging. |

2008 Bumbleride Indie Twin in Spice:
I bought a brand new year old stroller. I found a 10% coupon on one of those [..] type sites and free shipping. I did not buy from here, but I buy everything from here so...
-I have a 2 year old daughter and a newborn son
-My car seat is a Chicco key fit
-I have a Ford Expedition
-I am 5'5 and my husband is 6'
Your car seat might alter your double stroller choice. My three choices were the BOB double stroller, the Baby Jogger City Mini double stroller and the Bumbleride Indie Twin. My car seat didn't fit into any of the above choices other than the Bumbleride. I would have had to buy a new car seat to fit into the other strollers. Let that guide your decision.
Pro's for the Bumbleride: small enough to fit through regular door frames if you keep the cup holder off. It fits into my doctors office. It turns very easily. I can stere with one hand. I also walk my dog with this everyday. The car seat adapter comes with the stroller. The sunshade works better than the original stroller's sunshade when using he car seat. Adjustable handle works well for my husband and I. It came with a jogging strap and a rain shade, but I haven't used them yet.
Con's for he Bumbleride: pretty expensive if you can't find a coupon and shipping. The seats recliner does not use a lever or latch. It uses some kind of belt mechanism. It is super heavy to put in my big SUV. It is super bulky in the trunk and takes up most of the available space. It is a little complicated to fold because there are multiple steps.
My assessment: I have 3 single strollers and I hate them all including the stroller that came with my car seat. I use my stroller a lot because I walk my dog and I go walking a lot. I pretty much use it ever day. My 2 year old does sit in a stroller, God Bless her. I do bribe her with movies on my itouch and a constant supply of pretzels or fishy's. I need to have kids in strollers so I can get things done. This is the best stroller I have ever used. A jogging stroller is important to me because I do walk outside just about everyday and regular strollers are very difficult to use outside. I recommend basing your stroller buying on what car seat you already have. Safe a few bucks if you can... these things are expensive!! |
Overall a good stroller (2009 version)

I researched double strollers for months before deciding to purchase this one. It has a lot of great features but it could use some improvements.
Pros:
1. large canopies-good coverage against the sun for the little ones, especially when used with an infant seat and both canopies meet in the middle, the sun is completely blocked out.
2. they claim that you can't use the infant seat adapter along with the snack pack but I managed to get the two to work together. you just have to put the adapter and snack pack in before putting the car seat into the adapter but you do have to nudge it in a bit. if you put the adapter and infant seat in before the snack pack - it won't work at all.
3. comes with an air pump
4. you can pop the back tires off pretty quickly for a tighter fold, but you have to do it before you fold the stroller down.
5. smooth ride for the kids! compared to my old graco single stroller going over the same bumps - it rides like a dream. the graco bounced around a lot.
6. turns and pushes like a dream. It won't fit through every tight opening you can find but it fits through more than I would have thought.
7. tight turning radius
8. my toddler is able to climb in and out on her own which was huge for me after having a c-section with #2
Cons:
1. the center section of the buckle has a padded cover for extra comfort for your little one, but it doesn't stay on. when my toddler gets out on her own, she kinda slides out and always takes the buckle cover with her.
2. to raise or lower the foot rest you have to pull 2 little levers and they are hidden behind the frame a bit. I've never used them and NOT pinched my fingers in the process.
3. the seat doesn't sit up high enough for my toddler to see what's in her snack pack. alternatively the snack pack could be a little shorter to accomplish the same fix.
4. the parent's cup holder only goes in one location: the side of the handle making it wider and it won't fit through some doorways.
5. when I pack my diaper bag full of everything the 3 of us need for outings, it won't fit under in the storage bin so I have to hang it from the handle making it difficult to reach under for the items I do end up storing there.
6. there isn't a bumbleride parent unit that you can buy to attach to the handle, although I did find one for only $20 from another company that's universal to all double strollers.
7. I drive a BMW X3 and it takes up most of my storage space and I can't close the canopy across the top. the diaper bag, car seat adapter and snack pack take up the little room remaining to the side.
8. I have to sit on the stroller to get the clips connected on the side when folding the stroller down (to keep it folded) and one side doesn't stay clipped.
My main use of this stroller right now is to power walk at the mall and to run errands. I do have plans to take it out to the park when our life isn't so hectic but it drives on the carpet in the house really easily. I use to go into the mall at whatever entrance I wanted, but with this stroller, I only park near entrances with automatic doors. |
Worth the money - Excellent for Twins

When we had twins we never knew what a "gypsy carriage" our car (with twins a mini-van it's the only option) would be; and this stroller is the ultimate addition to our carriage.
This is our second double stroller and we went for it after the double snap and go was getting to small for the girls, at 4 monts to go around for more than 20 minutes without hearing complaints from them.
The first thing you'll think is that it's outrageously expensive; and depending on your budget, it might be; however if you can afford it GO FOR IT.
The girls fit good and have space to spare, the multi level adjustable back let them sleep flat one at the time or both if they decide to and the parents can roam over any surface without having to "lift" and pull the stroller trough it, the only suface we have not tried it is on sand for obvious reasons and we are very satisfied with it.
The cargo space underneath the sroller is great and the 'backpack' behind the seats are great additions for the 'mobile madness' we go with.
Now you'll think, why 4 and not 5 stars?
because there is not a 4 1/2 stars option. The cons are those associated with double strollers, even being light for it's size it's still a little heavy and bulky when folded to put in our 'carriage'. |
